Boxing in Business
Boxing is a very competitive sport as most of you knew already. It is just as much mentally challenging as it is physically. In fact, ESPN rated Boxing as number 1 most demanding sport. I used to box in college and then boxed for a team in my city. I didn’t fight as much after a while because there are only so many concussions you can have before it really starts affecting you, but I did spar often. I didn’t realize it at the time, but boxing made me very strong mentally. It taught me how to think strategically and clearly under pressure. Mike Tyson once said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.” The ones who stick to their plans and control their emotions after being punched in the face are the ones who win the fight. We all have certain goals and plans in our lives, but when we fall hard, we need to make sure that our mind is in our control and that we stick to our end goal. I’m not saying you can’t change your strategy, I encourage you to be flexible with your approach, but you need to make sure you don’t ever lower the bar for your end goal. Roll with the punches and keep going, because the last one standing wins the fight.
